affair.

Tips for Event Planning
Planning a catered affair or banquet is no small thing. Be it for 10 or 100, successful functions take planning.
Your caterer must understand your wishes for your function. To do this the two of you must spend time
together discussing the details. Here are a few useful tips to assist you in your conversation with the caterer.
 

bullet Budget - Let your caterer know your budget up front. This helps the caterer keep
the service style and menu items in line with your budget while considering your
needs.

bullet Guaranteed Numbers - Many caterers will quote prices based upon minimum of guests. If your  final count is less than quoted, there may be an additional fee.

bullet Final Head Count - When is it due? Don't forget tin include additional meals aside
from party guests... band members, photographers, wedding coordinator.

bullet Tax and Gratuities - Are they included in the price quoted

bullet Food Preparation - Does your caterer use fresh food and produce. The best meals
are prepared from scratch.
                                                                                                                                                                   
bullet Service Staff Levels - This will vary dependant upon the style of service. General
rule of thumb is for sit down, 1 server per 12 guests and for buffet, 1 server per 20
 
bullet Dress Code/Uniforms - How will staff be dressed. Will they be in standard uniform or do you
have a specific dress in mind.
 
bullet Glass, China, Silver - Are they included in price quote or is there an additional
charge. Is a deposit required?
 
bullet Menus -  Will they provided or is there an additional charge? Some find it a nice
touch for a more formalized function.
 
bullet Leftover Food - Usually this question arises with banquet functions. Find out
your caterers policy on leftover foods. Some places are bound by health laws.
